On this entire trip with play cast one thing I have noticed how hard it is these days to see people come down and pray at the altar. I do realize this is a play and people’s minds are not in the ‘church’ or ‘revival’ mode, so coming to pray is probably not the first thing on their mind. On the other hand even on a regular ministry I have noticed that it’s still hard to get people to realize that the church is still meant for a house of prayer. We spend more time singing, preaching, and setting on the pew than tarrying at the altar, which is the very reason Christ Himself said the church house was for.
I believe the students have also noticed this. Today we got to this church pretty early so we had extra time to pray. I had an overwhelming burden for this church we are currently at. We spent some extra time in prayer and I talked to the students about giving 100% tonight. We, as ministers, need to learn how to get a breakthrough for someone else, not just ourselves. We need to learn how to get victory for someone else not just ourselves. The Lord came down in the church upon us that afternoon. The students really seemed to break through and wanted to see the Lord really work through us in the service.
That night before the play even started they began with a song and the Lord moved and people really started to get in. I went ahead and gave an altar call and told them we didn’t have to continue with the play if someone needed to come pray go ahead. We tarried for awhile but nobody came down to pray so we went on with the play. It went really well and the people really responded great. We got a lot of emotion from the congregation. When it came down to the end I began to give a 2nd altar call. This time the call was for those who wanted to make a difference in their community. Several finally stepped out and prayed very well at the altar. One young lady in particular was really allowing the Lord to speak to her. I believe she was praying about the ministry but I can’t be sure. Prayer always makes the difference. We can intercede!
